New horror flick hits Hollywood

Friday The 13th may be unlucky for some but it's set to be terrifying for film-goers.

A new take on the classic horror movie franchise has premiered in Hollywood, where the film's stars appeared on an alternative black carpet.

Jared Padalecki, who plays Clay Miller, admitted he was frightened when he saw the film, despite being in it.

"I was still shocked by what was going on - I still jumped. And I was with my girlfriend, like, my friends and I still kind of jumped. And so I have to say it was pretty scary," he said at the premiere.

In the film, Clay goes to find his sister after she doesn't come back from a camping trip at Camp Crystal Lake.

Jason Voorhees, the infamous machete-wielding killer in the film, was played by Derek Mears.

Glamorous actress Willa Ford said Derek was "the nicest guy ever" without make-up, but when she first saw him in full costume with his machete on set: "I just remember feeling so vulnerable and, like, flipping out."

Co-star Arlen Escarpeta thinks the film will find a huge new fanbase. "If you've never seen the movie you're going to jump on board and become a die-hard fan."

The film's director Marcus Nispel revealed some tactics for making a good horror flick.

"In this particular case, the secret of Friday The 13th movies - if there is a formula of such things - is to never show your hand who's going to get it next. That starts with the fact that you don't want to have any huge celebrities or everyone knows who's going to live at the end, right?"
