Megalakulása: 1963



AThe Who mellett a legsikeresebb mod zenekar. A Davies testvérpár, az énekes Ray és gitáros Dave vezette zenekar a You Really Got Me című dallal tett hírnévre, amit sokan az első hard-rock dalnak tekintenek. A 60-as években óriási sikereket érnek el, a brit-invázió Nagy Négyesébe(The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who) tartoznak. Az évtized végén nem térnek át az akkor dívó pszihedelikus stílusra, ezért népszerűségük is csökken. A punkok őket tekintik ősüknek (a The Who-val közösen).
